Pet Vaccines
Preventative Pet Care & Vaccinations in Greer
Vaccinating your furry family member is one of the first steps towards long-term and preventative care. At Cleveland Park Animal Hospital Greer, we can administer the needed vaccinations for your pet from puppy and kitten age all the way into adulthood.
Our staff will keep a record of what type of vaccinations your pet receives and when each round is administered. We’ll also send reminders to let you know when they‘re due so you’re always up to date on your pet’s health.
Recommended Pet Vaccines
Knowing your daily habits and routine will help us understand how to best keep them protected when out in the world. We also wouldn’t want to give your pet any vaccines they don’t need. If you live an adventurous lifestyle with your pet and do lots of traveling or exploring, we may recommend additional non-core vaccinations.

Core Vaccines vs. Non-Core Vaccines
Your pet may require various vaccine types. To help you know which ones your pet needs, we’ve split them into two categories: core vaccines and non-core vaccines.
What Are Core Vaccines?
Core vaccines are the basic, most necessary vaccines for cats, dogs, and other pets. These include:
- Distemper
- Adenovirus
- Parvovirus
- Rabies
- Lepto
- Parainfluenza
- Hepatitis
What Are Non-Core Vaccines?
These vaccines are not necessary for every pet. Non-core vaccines become necessary when the pet is exposed to environments where these viruses and diseases exist.
- Kennel cough
- Canine influenza
- Lyme disease
- Bordatella
Additional Information:
We recommend that puppies and kittens get their first round of vaccines between 6 and 8 weeks old, or as soon as you introduce them to your home. Keeping them out of the public is a safe way to ensure your furry new friend doesn’t contract anything before their first vaccines.
Vaccination frequency is based on your pet’s age, breed, and lifestyle. Most dogs require a series of core vaccines as puppies, followed by booster shots at one year.
After that, core vaccines like Rabies, Dappv (Distemper, Adneovirus, Parafluinza, Hepatitis and Parvo), and Lepto are usually administered every three years. Non-core vaccines, such as Canine influenza, Bordetella, and Lyme, are recommended for pets with specific lifestyles, like those attending daycare or boarding frequently.
