Senior Pet Care

Your Pet's Favorite Full-Service Veterinarian

Looking for Senior Pet Care in Greer?

At Cleveland Park Animal Hospital Greer, we’re committed to providing exceptional veterinary care to cats and dogs so they can have long, full, and happy lives. Once your pet reaches their golden years, they may start experiencing some common health problems that come with age. These include dental problems, diabetes, kidney problems, arthritis, cancer, and more.

The sooner we catch these issues, the quicker we can treat them and get your pet feeling more comfortable. We recommend a wellness exam twice a year to ensure we catch problems early on. We offer a Senior Pet Care Program with benefits special to your senior dog or cat to help with costs and convenience.

Is My Pet a Senior?

How to Tell if Your Pet Requires Senior Care

Many factors affect how a pet ages, including their breed, size, and genes. Dogs and cats age like humans do and experience many of the same issues that come with being a senior.

Once cats hit 8-10 years of age, they’re considered seniors. They may become stiff, have gray hair around the face and eyes, can’t clean themselves as well making their fur matted and dull, become lethargic or cranky, and sleep for most of the day.

Since there are so many dog breeds with different body sizes and shapes, signs of old age can vary. Large dog breeds like Great Danes and Saint Bernards will have shorter lifespans and reach senior age quicker than smaller dog breeds like a Chihuahua or Shitzu. You may notice your dog has slowed down, gained or lost weight, become stiffer or suffers from arthritis, has gray hair on their face and body, has a dry nose and muzzle, and hazy or cloudy eyes.
